  Log and timber frame lake-front home. The challenge was to design and build this 3 level, 4 bedroom home on a narrow, steep lot while maximizing lake views and minimizing the site impact.

  The spectacular, long Laurentian views to the south required a substantial eave depth in order to avoid summertime overheating. The timber assembly provides interesting geometry to compliment the view.

  This project was part of a "parade of homes" event and sold almost immediately. It also won the "best landscaping" prize. Ironically there was very little invested in the grounds, the thoughtful site integration is what did it.

  The clients love to entertain, and everything from the gourmet kitchen to the comfortable guest rooms were carefully planned. The indoor /outdoor spaces add to the casual feel that only lakeside living can provide.

  Five years following the original construction this residence was doubled in size and footprint. The site development challenges included upgrading buried infrastructure and adapting to the bedrock of the Canadian shield, while achieving a seamless connection between old and new.

  The client arrived with their own detailed construction drawings and a clear idea of what they wanted. The project was completed in 7 months in time for the Yuletide log to burn in the fireplace.
